We have some news that matters deeply to our team: MEM Edtech Solutions & Consultancy has signed a memorandum of understanding with Zambia’s Ministry of Education.
For a company founded in Lusaka to serve Zambian educators, this is a significant milestone. It places our work formally alongside the national agenda for education, and it recognises years of building alongside teachers rather than around them.
What the memorandum means
A memorandum of understanding is not a contract with fixed deliverables. It is a formal statement of shared direction. For us, it means our work now sits in closer alignment with national curriculum priorities, including the Competency-Based Curriculum that guides what happens in Zambian classrooms every day.
It also extends the reach of teacher development. Our flagship platform, The Teacher’s Village, gives educators a digital community and learning space. Our AI teacher-support tool drafts lesson plans and classroom materials for teacher review and approval. Our Smart Solar Media Units carry digital learning into schools without reliable power or internet. Working in step with the Ministry’s priorities helps us aim that toolkit where it is needed most.
What it means for schools and partners
For school leaders, the memorandum signals credibility. When a school invites MEM to support teacher training, deploy solar-powered learning hardware or integrate technology into daily teaching, that engagement now sits within a recognised national relationship.
For partners, in Zambia and beyond, it shows that the solutions we bring were built for the Zambian system, not adapted to it after the fact. That distinction matters, because education technology so often arrives as a foreign template looking for a local problem.
It also strengthens our standing as a recognised CPD Service Provider within Zambia’s Continuous Professional Development ecosystem.
What comes next
There is no shortcut to better education. There is only steady work: training teachers, building tools they actually use, and showing up in the schools where the need is greatest. Among the plans we carry into this partnership are wider teacher development through The Teacher’s Village, continued solar-powered learning for off-grid schools, and AI support that keeps teachers firmly at the helm.
